Garrett Abelkop M.Ed., SHRM-CP
Director, Human Resources
Garrett Abelkop is a passionate and energetic leader who has served the Fulton County Schools community in a number of roles over the past twelve years. Mr. Abelkop joined FCS in 2011 where he worked at Chattahoochee High School for seven years as an English teacher, successful debate coach, and ultimately as an administrative assistant. For the past five years, Mr. Abelkop has served as an assistant principal at three different Fulton schools – Taylor Road Middle School, Johns Creek High School, and most recently back at Chattahoochee, where he also graduated from as a student.
As an alumnus of Fulton County Schools, Mr. Abelkop is proud to have the opportunity to continue to serve our community and is passionate about leveraging his strong background in communication and organizational leadership to help drive the growth of our students and our district. Mr. Abelkop earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University, his Master of Education degree from Columbus State University, and holds certification from the Society of Human Resource Management as a certified HR professional (SHRM-CP). Outside of work, Mr. Abelkop enjoys exploring the vibrant neighborhoods of Atlanta and is an avid hiker who frequently can be found climbing up and down the north Georgia mountains. Mr. Abelkop is excited to begin the next step of his career with FCS as a Director of Human Resources.
Margaret Antwi, MBA
Director, Human Resources
Margaret Antwi is a native of Brooklyn, New York and moved to Georgia in 2020. Ms. Antwi started her career serving children as a child welfare social worker and then transitioned into the field of Human Resources. Within her years of Human Resources experience, Ms. Antwi has enjoyed working in K-12 education for the past 5 years. Most recently, Ms. Antwi joined the Fulton County Schools community in January 2022 as a Coordinator, ADA Compliance and Administration in Human Resources. She has worked closely with school and office-based staff to support their needs while aligning to the District’s mission and vision. Ms. Antwi brings a great passion for education, equity, and partnership and she looks forward to continuing to contribute to the impactful work that FCS achieves in order to be of service to our students.
Ms. Antwi holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology from Brooklyn College, and a Master’s in Business Administration from Western Governor’s University. Ms. Antwi loves traveling, reading, listening to podcasts, going to art museums, volunteering, and spending quality time with friends and family. She is a proud mom of a 16-year-old daughter who attends Riverwood High School (Go Raiders!), and she is also a grandmother to a loving Beagle dog!
Tiffany Hutchens
Director, Human Resources
Ms. Tiffany Hutchens is a Georgia native with over 25 years of experience in Fulton County Schools. She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Kennesaw State University and her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Georgia.
Ms. Hutchens began her teaching career in Fulton County Schools at State Bridge Crossing Elementary School. She served as the assistant principal at Abbotts Hill Elementary School and later went on to serve as the principal of Medlock Bridge Elementary School. Her work as a principal focused on sustaining high student achievement, promoting an inclusive and positive school culture, and fostering a work environment which supported staff professional growth. In 2014, under Ms. Hutchens’ leadership, Medlock Bridge was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School.
In her current role at Fulton Schools College and Career Academy, Ms. Hutchens has the pleasure of working with staff and students from five different high schools. In addition to supporting the CTAE teachers at the Academy, she assists high school students in setting post-secondary goals.
Tiffany and her husband, Mark, are the proud parents of two adult sons, Jared and Jordan, both graduates of Fulton County Schools. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and reading. She is a servant leader who is passionate about providing the best education for all students. Tiffany is excited to serve principals in this new role and looks forward to supporting the district’s goals.
Maureen Lilly
Director, Human Resources
Ms. Maureen Lilly has had an outstanding career serving students and communities in Fulton County Schools for the past 29 years. She has served as a teacher, Curriculum Support Teacher, and Assistant Principal and Principal. For the past eight years, she has served as the Principal of Roswell North and Asa G. Hilliard Elementary Schools. In these roles, Ms. Lilly’s beliefs in the power and potential of people have driven her passion for developing and retaining highly qualified staff to positively impact student achievement.
Ms. Lilly is a New York native who has made Georgia her home for over 40 years. Prior to joining Fulton County Schools, Ms. Lilly earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the College of Charleston. She then obtained her Master of Education Degree in Early Childhood Education from Brenau University, her leadership certification from the University of Georgia, and her Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University. In her spare time, Ms. Lilly is a doting mother to her daughter Catherine, a senior in high school.
As a new human resource director, Ms. Lilly will leverage her leadership experiences in recruitment, retention, organizational growth, employee development, and creation of positive culture to support Fulton County Schools. She is excited about this opportunity and looks forward to supporting schools in her new role.
