September 2025

September is Attendance Awareness Month – and Fulton County Schools is ALL IN!

We kicked off the school year strong with our “All In on Day One” campaign - and thanks to your support, it was a huge success! Now, we are keeping the momentum going with our year-long initiative: All In on Attendance.

This exciting campaign celebrates the power of showing up - every single day. Attendance builds learning, friendships, and confidence, and we are making it fun with a little friendly competition!

We will be spotlighting schools with the best attendance across each zone on our leaderboard. Plus, look out for “Perfect Attendance Weeks” and shout-outs to classrooms that achieve 100% attendance for an entire week!

Want to help your student stay “All In”? We are asking every family to commit to attendance. Together, let’s make this year one to remember. Let’s keep every student ALL IN - all year long!

Autrey Mill Middle School’s (AMMS) music program just set a statewide standard. It has been dubbed the best of the best by the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA). The school is the latest recipient of the association’s “Music Program of the Year” award. It is presented just once a year, making Autrey Mill a member of a very elite group that is “a note above the rest.” Read more.

PCI Students Light Up Lives One Smile at a Time

It is almost unbelievable how powerful one idea can be, but at the Promise Career Institute (PCI), it took just a flame of kindness to spark a wave of meaningful volunteerism. Through the Promise Keepers initiative, over two dozen PCI students put their leadership skills into action by supporting patients and families at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). FCS Leads the Way in Literacy

FCS is celebrating major wins in literacy! Fresh off the release of the 2025 Georgia Milestones, our students are showing strong reading gains - proof that our long-term investments in literacy are paying off. FCS also leads the state in the number of schools named Literacy Leaders, thanks to our commitment to evidence-based instruction and the powerful LETRS professional development program. We are proud of our progress! Read more.

Exciting Update for College & Career Planning

FCS is rolling out SchooLinks, a powerful new platform replacing Naviance to help students from kindergarten through 12th grade explore careers, plan for college, and connect with counselors. Parents will have their own accounts to stay involved, explore options together, and message counselors directly. It’s everything you need to support your students’ future all in one place. Be on the lookout for more information from your guidance counselor.

Join the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council

Know a high schooler in grades 10-12 who’s ready to lead and make a difference? Encourage them to apply for the 2025-2026 Student Advisory Council! Students will meet with Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney, represent their schools, and help shape the future of FCS. In-person and virtual meetings available and transportation is provided! Applications are due by September 5th. Apply now!
