The Future is Fulton: Shaping Tomorrow through Teamwork, Integrity, and Accountability

Fulton County Schools is proud to present our updated strategic plan, built on the core values of TeamworkIntegrity, and Accountability. Announced during the State of the Schools address, this plan outlines our vision for the future and is centered on six strategic goals aimed at enhancing student performance, ensuring safety and operational efficiency, providing impactful programming, strengthening employee engagement, utilizing fiscal resources effectively, and deepening community connections.

With clear, focused objectives and a commitment to continuous improvement, this plan serves as a roadmap to guide Fulton County Schools in shaping a brighter, more successful future for our students, staff, and community. Click here to learn more about the Strategic Plan.

Last month’s State of the Schools address also underscored a series of incredible accomplishments, including the district’s rising graduation rates and academic performance, with students surpassing state and national SAT and ACT averages. Enhanced safety measures were also highlighted. With millions invested in recent years, our focus on safety spans advanced security systems, enhanced mental health support, and deeper partnerships with local law enforcement to protect our school environment. It takes a village. Anyone who works in education can tell you that, especially when it comes to ensuring that children attending Fulton County Schools (FCS) have what they need to succeed. The APEC Family Foundation is dedicated to empowering FCS students. When the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, Bright from the Start, awarded the foundation a $120,000 health and safety grant, APEC used the funds to provide outdoor basketball courts at four FCS schools.

Author and Illustrator Energize Young Readers

It was a magical moment. A crowd of kindergarteners, first graders, and second graders held rapt attention with their listening ears working at maximum capacity. Teachers and staff at Medlock Bridge Elementary made it happen with the help of author Ann Patchett and illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser. Their names may ring a bell. Patchett has penned bestsellers including “The Dutch House” and “Tom Lake.” Glasser’s artistic talents brought the “Fancy Nancy” series to life. They visited the school in September to share their new book, “The Verts: A Story of Introverts and Extroverts.”

Election Day is a Remote Learning Day

The district has designated Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, 2024, as a remote learning day. Due to the anticipated high volume of voters coming onto district properties, all students will work remotely to ensure their safety. Students may choose to catch up on learning from home, but they will not be expected to log in for synchronous lessons. Learning will be conducted through asynchronous assignments. Please check with your student’s teacher(s) for remote day learning instructions.

New Process for Change of Student Assignment

Last spring, updates were made to the process for students wanting to attend a school outside of their home attendance boundary. The new process went into effect this year and impacts all Fulton County Schools’ changes in enrollment. The application window also is now held at one time, with a beginning date of December 9, 2024, and closing January 15, 2024.
