May marks the end of the school year, and with that comes testing. Students are feeling the pressure. One of the biggest struggles is keeping students motivated as we race toward the finish line, and it is incredibly important to boost confidence throughout this busy season. Election Day Calendar Change

State law requires schools to permit voting when requested by the Fulton County Department of Registrations and Elections. Therefore, Tuesday, May 21 is now set as a remote learning day to allow for district schools to be used as state election polling sites. The district administration is working with schools to create alternative plans for student activities already scheduled at schools that will serve as polling sites. View the Updated Calendar

May 15 is the Deadline for Open Enrollment

FCS has identified 75 schools that can accept transfer students next school year through Georgia’s Quality Basic Education Act, which allows parents of students enrolled in a public K-12 school to enroll in another school within the district if classroom space is available. The application deadline is Wednesday, May 15, at 4:30 p.m., and parents will be notified of their child’s transfer status on Friday, June 28. Apply Now

FCS To Host Summer Virtual Creativity Days

This summer, FCS will host three Virtual Creativity Days for students to engage in creative thinking as they design graphics, videos, and web pages. Rising 3rd through 6th-grade students will learn how to use Adobe Express while rising 7th through 12th-grade students will use Canva for Education. Students may participate through Microsoft Teams in any, or all the sessions on a given day. Space is limited, so register today!

Bethune Elementary Wins Robotics Competition

When Mary M. Bethune Elementary fifth grader Christian Davenport took the controls of his team's robot Orange Phoenix at the National Beta Club robotics competition, he was confident. "I'm good at controlling things." The Bethune robotics team named, built, and operated Orange Phoenix, the winner, as they closely followed the guidelines of the National Beta Club state competition. Get Ready for National School Lunch Hero Day

Between preparing healthy food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, FCS nutrition department professionals have a lot on their plates. To celebrate their hard work and commitment, FCS will celebrate School Lunch Hero Day on Friday, May 3. From their friendly greetings and the love they "dish" out with every student's meal to how they encourage kids to eat more fruits and vegetables, our school nutrition professionals are true heroes.

Summer Learning Registration Ends May 24

Registration is open until May 24 for Summer Learning. This free program provides and opportunity for students to recover credits and also accelerate to get ahead during the time between school years. Acceleration courses require tuition. New this year is a full-day program for elementary students with summer enrichment options. Transportation is provided for all students.
