January marks the beginning of a new semester, offering a fresh start and new opportunities. Staying organized and motivated is key to setting the tone for a successful year. Here are some tips to help your students start strong:

Creekside Hosts Educators to Showcase Impact of AVID

Creekside High School recently welcomed a delegation of educational leaders eager to explore how its Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program is transforming lives. During the AVID “Showcase”, visitors observed classrooms, met with administrators, and spoke directly with students to see how Creekside is empowering learners to achieve their college and career goals. Read more.

 

COSA

Change of School Assignment application deadline is Jan. 15

The COSA application window is now open and accepting transfer requests. Last spring, the school board revised Policy JBDC, unifying the process and timeline for all transfer-related programs. These include what was known as hardship transfers, open enrollment, transfers for FCS employees’ children, Georgia Special Needs Scholarship Program transfers, and requests to schools offering IB or magnet programs. The deadline is Jan. 15. Learn more.

 

FCS Art Teachers’ Work Featured in Local Art Show

Art teachers teach their students to create and often encourage students to share their creative works with others. Now, the talents of 10 Fulton County Schools (FCS) art teachers are featured in a local art show. “Playful Encounters” displayed how art can be playful and created for fun. All work was created by K-12 art teachers across Georgia. Read more.

 

Elementary Entrepreneur’s Healthy Mission for Kids

Dunwoody Springs Elementary School third-grader Wade Williams was just five years old when his grandmother Alfreda Williams contracted coronavirus. It was at that age when Wade became one of the youngest authors in modern history. He wrote a children’s book cleverly titled, “Wade Through the Pandemic.” Read more.

 

Register for the Middle School Career Expo

It's never too early for your student to start thinking about a career. Jumpstart your child's future at the Middle School Career Expo. Learn about and experience activities related to various career pathways/clusters. There will be hands-on activities, demonstrations, giveaways, and more! FCS Sets Historic Record in Graduation Rate

FCS has continued a remarkable four-year streak by achieving a historic milestone with a new four-year graduation rate of 90.7%. The district also surpassed state performance in the other key metrics outlined by Georgia’s College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). Read more.
