FCS Board of Education Welcomes Four New Members
Congratulations to our four new Fulton County Schools Board of Education members!
Dr. Michelle Morancie, Kristin McCabe and Lillie Pozatek won their district seats in May 2022, after Board members Julia Bernath, Linda McCain and Katie Reeves retired. The Board also appointed Katie Gregory to fill the term of Gail Dean. All four members, in addition to Kimberly Dove, who was re-elected in May, were sworn in during Board meetings held in December.
The newcomers will take office in January 2023.

Deadline is February 28 for Hardship Transfer Applications
The deadline to submit an application is February 28, 2023, by 4:30 p.m. and applies to students and parents seeking a hardship transfer for medical reasons, curriculum differences, and childcare situations or for employees' children.
Parents will use an online form, available through the school system's website, to enter and submit their information. For more information about hardship transfers, click here or contact the Fulton County Schools' Student Assignment Office at 470-254-5550.
Langston Hughes HS State Football Champions!
Congratulations to the Langston Hughes High School Panthers on winning the Class 6A football state championship. The team won their first title by a final 35-28 over Gainesville.

Dolvin ES Collects 4,000 Socks in “Socktober” Event
For two weeks in October, Dolvin Elementary School students and teachers collected more than 4,000 socks to give to the Gateway Center, a homeless shelter in Atlanta, and the Foster Care Support Foundation. The “Socktober” event was an opportunity for students and the community to come together to help others in their community. Read more.
Magnet Application Window Closes January 15
FCS offers several magnet programs throughout the district to provide opportunities for students to explore curricula focused on specific areas of study. Programs currently offer studies, including international studies, business, visual and performing arts, math & science. The application window closes on January 15. Board Approves New Redistricting Plan
After months of community input related to the Board-approved redistricting criteria, the Board has voted to accept the implementation of both the north Fulton and south Fulton school attendance zone redistricting plans for the 2023-24 school year. Impacted families will receive notification in January 2023 and changes go into effect with the 2023-24 school year. Click here to see the final north Fulton recommendation. Oakley ES Holds Inaugural STEAMTOPIA Event
When new principal Uche Ngoddy arrived at Oakley Elementary School in 2022, she wanted to create a STEAM culture for her students, their families, and the community. Collaborating with math coach Marissa North, her idea, STEAMTOPIA, was born. STEAMTOPIA, a carnival-style event, brought a lively combination of learning and fun. Read more.
Fulton Schools FY 2024 Budget Process Kicks Off
As the district begins its annual budget season, we pledge to remain transparent as we continuously update our community about the Fiscal Year 2024 budget planning process. The comprehensive budget development effort undertaken by the district takes several months and includes multiple steps of review, research, and community engagement. Manning Oaks ES Hosts STEAM Family Fun Night
Manning Oaks Elementary School in Alpharetta combined learning and fun in their recent STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics) Family Fun Night. Teachers and staff included activities for the whole family to get involved.
Kindergarteners through second graders spent the night experimenting with science and art projects.
Other demonstrations were led by high school students from the Fulton County Schools (FCS) STEM-based Innovation Academy (IA), also based in Alpharetta. Read more.
FCS Outranks State on CCRPI 2022 Results
The Georgia Department of Education (GADOE) released its annual College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) report for 2022 with modifications due to a waiver from the U.S. Department of Education. Fulton County Schools (FCS) has again outranked state standings and demonstrated visible progress in helping struggling schools to overcome the learning gap resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The district's mitigation system, which consists of extensive additional instructional support and monitoring and which began before the pandemic, was augmented by FCS's Bridge to Success program, funded by the American Rescue Plan stimulus package. 2nd Annual Hootie's Holiday Feast at Vickery Mill ES
Pastor Gerald Fadayomi at Home Church Roswell has a special relationship with the families at Vickery Mill Elementary School. As it grows, the small, startup church is renting the school as their worship home on the weekends. Every week, Fadayomi could sense the needs in the community and felt the calling to do more for the students who shared the halls with his congregation. Read more.
