On your mark, get set, go! The second semester has taken off and we’re racing full speed ahead. If you have a student who struggled last semester, now is a good time to check in with your teachers and counselors to make sure your student is on track to recover their grades.
There are several options available to help students who may have fallen behind, including High Dosage Small Group tutoring and the opportunity to make up classes through Fulton Virtual School (FVS).
Additionally, the district offers a Summer Learning program for students in grades 3-12 who do not pass their classes. Registration begins March 1. Stay tuned for more information coming soon.

Declaration Window for SGC Elections Opens February 1
The window for parents and teachers to declare candidacy for their school's School Governance Council opens on February 1. During this time, individuals interested in serving a 2-year term (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2025) will have the opportunity to complete a Candidate Declaration Form available on the Charter System Website. The declaration window will remain open until March 24 with voting to take place in April. Schools have been provided an electronic elections toolkit and the Governance Team is finalizing additional elections materials including posters, handouts, and lawn signs. These materials will be sent out near the end of the month and should arrive at schools in early February for SGCs and school administration to use to promote elections. FCS Hardship Transfer Deadline is February 28
The deadline for Hardship Transfer applications is Tuesday, February 28 for parents who wish to apply for a 2023-24 hardship transfer or to renew a current hardship to another Fulton elementary, middle, or high school. Parents will use an online form to enter and submit their information. Get more info and access the application here.
Let Your Voice Be Heard!
Let us know what you think about Fulton County Schools by taking our Annual Parent Perception Survey. Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. The survey will be open from February 13 through March 10 and will be available in English, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified), Korean, and Hindi. An email will be sent the week of February 13 with a link to complete the survey. Our students’ opinions are important too! Students in grades 4-12 will be administered the Annual Student Perception Survey between February 13th and 24th during the school day. More information will be coming soon from your principals.

Register for the Middle School Career Expo
Attention middle school parents! It’s never too early for your student to start thinking about a career. Join us on Saturday, February 25 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at North Springs High School (7447 Roswell Rd, Sandy Springs) and jumpstart your child’s future at the Middle School Career Expo. It’s a great opportunity to explore Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) career pathways. There will be hands-on activities, demonstrations, giveaways, and more! Entrance is free. FCS Launches Public Balanced Scorecard Portal
Good news! The district’s Balanced Scorecard has been upgraded and can now be viewed in an interactive, digital format. The Balanced Scorecard is a tool that measures performance to ensure that students reach their potential year after year. This report marks the 22nd year of collecting and reporting specific metrics, but the first year in presenting the metrics in a real-time live dashboard accessible to the public. Hopewell Middle School Organizes Food Drive
This past holiday season, students at Hopewell Middle School in Milton organized a food drive that amassed 5,700 items to help local families in need. The secret to collecting that much food? First, a clever name for the food drive, “Food Fight.” Second, turning the drive into a grade-level competition. The sixth grade won out by bringing more to donate than the seventh and eighth grades combined. Read more.
FCS Celebrates Opening of New S.A.F.E. Centers
Tri-Cities High School recently celebrated the grand opening of its Unidos Center, the district’s newest S.A.F.E Center. ‘S.A.F.E’ stands for Student and Family Engagement. Free services in the center are supported by federal funds from the FCS Bridge to Success Plan, as well as grants and donations. Some of the free goods and services provided include groceries, clothing, shoes, laundry, and hygiene items. Read more here. Start Your Career Right After High School
Is your student interested in training for a high-wage, in-demand career field while in high school? FCS Middle College offers a different path to high school graduation, where students graduate with a high school diploma and two technical college certificates. In collaboration with Atlanta Technical College, Middle College will provide a relevant and career-ready curriculum for students. Students will take nine core academic courses while focusing their remaining coursework training in chosen career fields. Interested? Fill out this short survey and join our mailing list.
Chattahoochee Students Help Grow Future Leaders
The transition from elementary to middle school can be tough. Chattahoochee HS senior, Lotenne Nwokolo, was there not too long ago. “Your teachers, they try their hardest,” she says of all the preparation that goes into making the jump from 5th to 6th grade as smooth as possible. “But they don’t know every detail.” Lotenne is the president of Growing Future Leaders. The mentorship program was started by another CHS student, Tai Shlomi, in partnership with Ocee ES. Lotenne expanded the program to her old school, Abbotts Hill ES. Read more.
Scoring Big with FCS School Nutrition
In celebration of the 57th Annual Super Bowl, the Fulton County cafes will be hosting a Super Bowl-themed promotion from February 6-10. Throughout the week, FCS cafes will host a Canned Food Drive, Lucky Tray Day with a special prize giveaway, plus surprise MVP servers will be in the cafe helping serve a nutritious & delicious lunch to students. Exercising Food Caution on Special Event Days
As we approach Valentine’s Day, it is important to ensure that all homemade candy, desserts, baked goods, or other edible items are not to be sold or distributed during school hours, and that appropriate store-bought items are delivered to the administration. Please know that taking this measure will help us maintain a safe environment for all students with allergies, etc. You can help us protect your student(s) by requesting that they not eat anything given to them by another person, anything that they have not brought from your home or anything not in its original sealed package.
FCS Program Provides Fully-Funded Field Trips
Due to the recent pandemic, many students haven't been able to go on school field trips in the last three years. However, Fulton County Schools' new Cultural Kaleidoscope program aims to change this fact by providing every FCS student with enriched, educational learning beyond the classroom through field trips offering authentic experiences and cultural exposure.
