Dr. Rako Morrissey has dedicated the past 28 years to advancing educational excellence, with the last 13 years proudly spent serving Fulton County Schools. Her career began in the classroom, where she taught elementary and middle school students across Marietta City, Henry County, and Cobb County Schools. During this time, she honed her skills as an educator and built a strong foundation for her leadership journey.

In Cobb County, Dr. Morrissey transitioned into leadership through roles in professional development, eventually serving as an assistant administrator and assistant principal. Her passion for fostering impactful learning experiences led her to join Fulton County Schools in 2012 as the principal of New Prospect Elementary School. Two years later, she assumed the principalship at Crabapple Middle School, where her visionary leadership has significantly enriched the academic and extracurricular opportunities available to students.

Under Dr. Morrissey’s guidance, Crabapple Middle School has become a hub for innovative programs that empower students to excel. She has worked collaboratively with stakeholders to implement initiatives such as a two-credit world language program, comprehensive Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) offerings, and high school-level academic courses across all core content areas. These efforts have enhanced the school’s ability to prepare students for future success while fostering a culture of high achievement.

Dr. Morrissey’s academic credentials reflect her dedication to lifelong learning. She earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Middle Grades Education from Kennesaw State University, followed by a Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership from the University of West Georgia. In 2011, she was awarded a Doctorate in Education from Kennesaw State University, solidifying her expertise in educational leadership and instructional excellence.

Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Morrissey finds joy in her personal life. She enjoys playing tennis, visiting Disney, and cherishing time with her family, including her husband, Jay, and their three children, Mia, Jack, and Liam. A proud member of the Roswell community, she values the relationships she has built with students, families, and colleagues over the years. Dr. Morrissey is honored and humbled to continue serving the community in her new role, remaining steadfast in her commitment to fostering meaningful opportunities for all students to thrive.
