Latasha Simmons, a native of Hazlehurst, Georgia, has dedicated more than 20 years to serving students, families, and school communities through a commitment to academic excellence, student success, and meaningful career preparation. Throughout her career in Fulton County Schools, she has served as a science teacher, department chairperson, and assistant principal, building a reputation as a collaborative leader who prioritizes strong relationships, high expectations, and student-centered decision-making.
Mrs. Simmons earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Georgia Southwestern State University, a Master of Management in Human Resource Management from Troy University, and a Specialist in Educational Leadership from Georgia College & State University. Her diverse educational and professional experiences have shaped her belief that strong schools are built through rigorous instruction, meaningful relationships, and a shared commitment to student success.
Most recently, Mrs. Simmons served as Assistant Principal at The Promise Career Institute, where she helped lead efforts focused on instructional excellence, student achievement, and continuous improvement. Working alongside students, staff, and families, she contributed to PCI's achievement of a 90.8 College and Career Ready Performance Index score during the school's inaugural year.
As Principal of The Promise Career Institute, Mrs. Simmons is thrilled to continue serving the students, staff, families, and community she has proudly supported as Assistant Principal. She is committed to building upon the strong foundation already established at PCI while expanding opportunities that prepare students for success in high-wage, high-skill, and high-demand career fields. Her leadership is grounded in high expectations, strong relationships, and the belief that every student deserves access to innovative learning experiences and a clear pathway to future success.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Mrs. Simmons enjoys spending time with her husband, Shannon, and their son, Ethan. She is an avid football fan who proudly supports the Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Bulldogs.
As the next Principal of The Promise Career Institute, Mrs. Simmons looks forward to partnering with students, staff, families, industry partners, and the broader community as PCI continues to fulfill its mission of preparing students for success through rigorous academics, career-focused learning, and meaningful real-world opportunities.
