Fulton County Schools Budget Update: Key Dates and Developments for 2025-2026

Fulton County Schools is committed to responsible financial management, ensuring every dollar benefits our students, staff, and community. As part of this effort, Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney has directed district administrative staff to reduce their non-personnel budgets by 5% per division. This step demonstrates our commitment to solid financial stewardship as we continue developing the 2025-2026 budget.

This update is part of a series to keep employees, parents, and stakeholders informed about key dates and decisions shaping the district’s financial future. Next month, staff will present critical updates on funding, enrollment, and state budget proposals—elements that directly impact school operations and planning.

Upcoming Budget Discussions:

Enrollment Forecast
Staff will present an update on current and projected enrollment trends within the district. Enrollment patterns have significant implications for school planning, resource allocation, and budgeting.

Revenue Forecast
Chief Financial Officer Marvin Dereef will provide an annual update on school tax collections and revenue expectations, including an overview of property tax collections and trends affecting school funding.

Governor’s Budget Update
Staff will provide an overview of Governor Brian Kemp’s budgetary recommendations for the next fiscal year, focusing on their potential impact on public education highlighting proposed funding allocations for K-12 education and expected changes in state funding formulas and grants.
