A Testament to Academic Excellence

Fulton County Schools’ exceptional 2024 Georgia Milestones test results are a true testament to academic excellence as students continue their path toward academic progress and achievement. Scores demonstrated significant growth in various subjects, reflecting the hard work and dedication of both students and staff.

"The impressive results we see today are a reflection of the outstanding teaching and learning that take place in our schools every day," said Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney about the district's performance.

The district observed notable increases in several key areas. Fifth-grade English/Language Arts (ELA) scores improved, as did scores across all tests for grades 6 through 8. High school students showed advancements in Literature and History.

Detailed results include:

  • End of Grade (EOG) assessment for grades 5-8: The district surpassed state averages in all EOG assessments, maintaining or exceeding proficiency and distinguished rates from 2023 in ELA, Science, and Social Studies.
  • High school End of Course (EOC) assessments: Fulton County outperformed both the state and RESA in all EOC categories of proficient and above. American Literature and Composition, along with U.S. History, exceeded the 2023 proficiency and distinguished rates.
  • EOG assessments for grades 3-8: Fulton County exceeded state averages in proficient and above categories in all EOG assessments. Except for third-grade ELA, all grades met or exceeded the 2023 proficiency and distinguished rates in ELA and Science.

Board of Education President Kimberly Dove expressed her pride in the achievements, stating, "Our students and staff have shown exceptional dedication and hard work, and these results reflect their unwavering commitment to excellence. I am incredibly proud of their achievements."

While results were still above state and RESA averages, third-grade ELA scores saw a slight decrease and High School Biology experienced a 1% decline in proficient and distinguished rates. Math scores were not part of this report due to the implementation of new standards and are expected to be released by the Georgia Department of Education in the fall.

The Georgia Milestones assessments are a crucial measure of student achievement in local school districts, and these results highlight the continued academic excellence within Fulton County Schools.
