FCS Breaks Grad Record Five Years in a Row

Fulton County Schools (FCS) proudly announces its fifth year of breaking graduation records, reaching a new milestone of 91.9%, the highest in the district's history. The last five years, beginning in 2020 when the rate dipped for the first time since 2012, have shown a steady rise in each year's all-time high for a total 6.4% increase. From a low point of 85.5% to the present rate, FCS remains above state and national averages and has illustrated a story of resilience.

While many districts nationwide still struggle with pandemic-era issues such as academic recovery, attendance problems and expired federal funding, Fulton leads the way demonstrating the positive results of its efforts to ensure continued progress while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Board President Kristin McCabe said, “We are thrilled to have achieved this landmark success. The Board celebrates this progress and remains ever more committed to investing our financial resources in our students, teachers and programs. We hold the collective belief that every student can succeed in their chosen path. The future is Fulton.”

Fulton's investment in multiple strategies throughout the pandemic such as targeted academic supports, expanded access to advanced coursework, investment in Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) pathways and new data monitoring tools have contributed to the graduation rate upturn. For instance, FCS students who completed two or more CTAE courses posted a 99% graduate rate.

School level key highlights of comparison with 2024:

  • A Perfect 100% Graduation Rate for Global Impact Academy - again: For the second time in the district’s history, Global Impact Academy achieved this unmatched 100% graduation rate.
  • 13 Schools Show Graduation Rate Improvements: Out of 21 high schools, 13 showed improvement in their graduation rates - two more than in 2024 - demonstrating increased academic progress across the district
  • 17 Schools with Graduation Rates Above 90%: A total of 17 schools surpassed the 90% graduation rate threshold - two more than in 2024 - showcasing consistent performance at the highest level.

Superintendent Dr. Looney added, “We have come a long way since the pandemic and believe our continued progress is the result of our persistence in utilizing dedicated funds for recovery, effective data analysis, recruiting top talent, and investing in innovation that has transformed what was a period of crisis into one of restoration and thriving. I am so proud of our staff and students and am heartened to see them taking their next steps into the world beyond high school."
