Creekside High School Captures Georgia Class 4A State Football Championship

The Creekside High School boys football team finished a historic season December 15, 2025 by winning the Georgia Class 4A state championship, defeating Benedictine 42–39 in a thrilling title game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The victory capped a perfect 15–0 season for the Seminoles and marked the program’s first state championship since 2013. Along the way, Creekside set a new Georgia high school football record for most points scored in a season, finishing with 845 points.
“This season was different from the very beginning,” said Creekside Athletic Director Dr. Mekeia Troy. “From spring practice on, there was a mindset of domination. The goal was always the 15th game, and the players worked together every step of the way to get there.”
Creekside accumulated 486 total yards of offense in the championship game and overcame a 24–21 halftime deficit by scoring three unanswered touchdowns in the second half. Benedictine closed the gap late, but the Seminoles recovered an onside kick with just over a minute remaining and ran out the clock to secure the title.
Senior quarterback Cayden Benson, named the game’s Most Valuable Player, delivered a standout performance. Benson threw for 161 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 133 yards and two additional scores. A leader on and off the field, Benson is also known across campus as “Mr. Creekside,” having been voted homecoming king by the student body.
The Seminoles’ offensive balance was on full display. Gary Walker rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown, while Ced Kelly added two rushing touchdowns and a receiving score.
Creekside’s defense also played a critical role throughout the season, allowing an average of just 8.3 points per game.
“What made this team special wasn’t just the talent or the speed people saw on Friday nights,” said Head Coach Maurice Dixon. “It was the growth I watched every single day. They faced adversity, lost key pieces, and still showed up with belief and purpose. They didn’t need perfect football to win. They needed toughness, trust, and the ability to respond.”
Experience also played a key role in the championship run. Many of the team’s seniors had previously competed at Mercedes-Benz Stadium during the 2023 Championship game, which ended in a disappointing loss, and then had a strong run again in 2024 that ended in the semifinals. Those tough losses fueled their determination to return and finish the job.
“They’ve been together, worked together, won together, and lost together,” Dr. Troy said. “This group understood what it takes, and when the moment came, they were ready.”
With wins over top-ranked teams from Texas and Florida during the season and a championship performance on Georgia’s biggest stage, the 2025 Creekside Seminoles have secured their place in school history, representing their program, school, and community with pride.
