When the timer rings in Erika Jobbers’ kindergarten classroom, her students know exactly what to do. They get up and head to their assigned stations. Small groups form around the room. Some work on writing letters. Another group works with Jobbers on letter sounds. Some work with a partner. Everyone has a task. When the timer dings again, they switch groups.

In a first-grade classroom at Creek View Elementary School, Linda Ngo turns learning into an experience. Desks can turn into campsites, math lessons are done around a paper campfire, and students can find themselves roasting imaginary marshmallows while reviewing for a test. It's all part of teacher Linda Ngo's approach to learning: turning lessons into memories her students will never forget.

Fulton County Schools Debuts Countywide Middle School Basketball Tournament

For the first time in at least five years, Fulton County Schools middle school athletes had the chance to compete for a county title, bringing a new level of excitement, structure, and celebration to student athletics. The newly introduced end-of-season basketball tournament marked a milestone moment for the district’s intra/extramural programming.

Johns Creek Student Creates App that Intersects Sport and Science

At Fulton County Schools, innovation isn’t confined to the classroom - it’s happening on the soccer field, too. Jarek Jimenez, a junior at Johns Creek High School, may be a manager by title for the school's soccer team, but he contributes much more than his skill for retrieving a loose soccer ball. Jarek has created a custom computer application that generates player ratings for his teammates, blending his passion for technology with his commitment to his team.

FCS Visual Arts Students Participate in State-Wide Symposium

Seven students from five Fulton County high schools displayed their work at the All-State Art Symposium at Piedmont University in Demorest, Georgia on February 27. Students attended the all-day event to view student art, network and take art classes. Georgia high school art teachers submitted student work, and over 800 pieces were featured in this year’s show.

Stories That Matter: Student-Led Publications Thrive

The heartbeat of journalism remains strong, resonating every day in high school classrooms across Fulton County Schools (FCS).

“Students want and need platforms different from social media to share their perspectives and ideas,” says Chattahoochee High School (CHS) teacher David White, who serves as the adviser for the school newspaper, The Speculator, along with its digital newsmagazine.

LaTonya Davis - Congratulations!

LaTonya Davis is an educational leader with deep experience in instructional coaching, program development, and school improvement. She holds advanced degrees in Education and Educational Leadership, along with an undergraduate degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. LaTonya began her teaching career through Teach for America as a middle school science teacher before moving into roles as an Instructional Dean and STEM Director, where she led professional learning and coaching across Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
